Jeff Bezos allegedly acquired a $68 million crib for his prospective bride in Florida's elite "Billionaire Bunker" neighborhood a month after proposing to girlfriend Lauren Sanchez.
According to Bloomberg, the three-bedroom, three-bathroom house on Indian Creek Island was purchased in an off-market transaction in June by the founder of Amazon, who is also the world's third wealthiest person.
Bezos and Sanchez were observed in robes a month earlier while drifting around the Spanish island of Mallorca on his $500 million yacht, where he had recently proposed to his longtime girlfriend with a $2.5 million diamond.
Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Carl Icahn, and Spanish musician Julio Iglesias are among the power couple's new neighbors.
The 9,259-square-foot home, which was erected in 1965 on the fortified barrier island of Indian Creek Island, has its own municipality, mayor, and police force.
According to public records, the last documented sale prior to Bezos was for $1.4 million in 1982. After inflation, it equates to almost $4.4 million today.
Indian Creek has around 40 waterfront houses, all of which have water views, as well as a 294-acre, 18-hole golf course. There are also Brazilian teak docks where 100+ foot luxury yachts may be docked; these are suitable for his 417 foot superyacht Koru, which includes a helipad, pool, and a mermaid on the prow that resembles Sanchez.
He constructed his $500 million superyacht, which debuted this year and is expected to cost about $25 million per year to operate.
According to the 2021 census, the island was home to just 81 people.
According to an unidentified insider, Bezos is interested in acquiring property near to his eight-figure house.
Bezos' latest purchase adds to his already outstanding real estate portfolio, which includes the biggest residence in Washington, D.C., a $78 million estate in Hawaii, and a nine-acre Beverly Hills mansion he spent $165 million for in 2020.
Amazon, which started as a modest online shop in 1994, has evolved into a multibillion-dollar enterprise under Bezos' leadership. Since then, he has amassed a large real estate portfolio valued at more than $500 million after inflation.
The 59-year-old also owns a 5.3-acre property in Medina, Washington, and nearly $100 million in property in a Fifth Avenue apartment complex in New York City, in addition to a 30,000-acre ranch in Texas.
Bezos, who graduated from Miami Palmetto Senior High School in 1982, has returned home with his new apartment in the Miami neighborhood.
